Update!

Hey guys, just a quick note before our meeting tomorrow:

We had the meeting with Mrs Yeo yesterday, and she showed us the leadership program for next year:

In a nutshell, it is PACKED.

There're gna be structured courses for each level of student leaders, and apparently the budget for student leadership expanded. Well, we;ll find out next year anyway.

So there are gna be all sorts of courses and programs, so... let's make use of this holiday to iron out our priorities, alright?

Guess what? Investiture's on 26 March. That leaves us with 3 MONTHS to settle our business with Council. So with all the mock exams/tests/programs/courses/My ProjectBook meetings...we're gna have a LOT on our plates.

Sec 4 Farewell has been rescheduled to, tentatively, the third week of Jan, Friday. It is to be combined with our annual BBQ.

Students' Congress has been approved! But we need to look over the suggested Board of Directors. Details will be discussed tomorrow, especially for those of us who have little idea what it's all about.

Initiative Box has also been approved! We'll need to discuss ways of publicizing, and um, ways of making the boxes.

With all the new stuff we're hoping to put in,we could launch a kind "school-awareness-care-for-community-and-your-fellow-crescentian-and-
improving-your-own-environment-for-yourself-ness " campaign
that we will never let Crescent forget!

So let's let the attitude change start from us, yeah?

So, tomorrow, 1000hrs at the Council Room, Mrs Yeo may be coming, Wai Teng may not depending on the extent of her injuries. See you guys there :D

And, THANK YOU, Eunice, for your Standard Procedures list. We'll look over it tomorrow too.

Agenda for EXCO meeting 011206
1. Sec 4 Farewell/Annual BBQ
2. Student's Congress/ Initiative Box
3. Standard Procedures for Duties
4. Next Year's Challenges
5. Performance Review

Bring notepaper!

Carren!

Update: Attendance Books & Council Room Stuff

Hey guys,

Just to let you guys know, me and Wai Teng went and got the Attendance registers for the Div Heads. So note that it's been taken of the Wants list.
Also, we have pens/pencils/thumbtacks for the Council Room, which we've been running short of lately. I'll be bringing in a penknife.

If anyone has other stuff they want to bring in, feel free to bring it during the next EXCO mtg, the details of which Wai Teng will announce soon.

Also, we have a new air freshener, which is hanging on the wall by the computer. So if any of you next try to use the computer, please do not face the hole in which the (perfume? scent?) spews out of. It might be toxic.

At any rate, its set to go off every 36 minutes.

So by the time we next open up the council room, with luck, it won't smell of mould so much.

Yeah.

And for those who feel they haven't had enough opportunities during these last few terms, here's a chance to get involved: check out the projects on the Wants list and volunteer to take them on! It's like a basketball game; you gotta ask for the ball.

Love,
Carren

student congress/things we need

I BOUGHT AIR FRESHENER FOR COUNCIL ROOM! :D
anyway, would just like to further explain on the student congress
and yes, its one of those things that i learnt from rg.

student congress:
the initiative box mentioned is actually fully under the charge of the student congress
i've thought about it, we will have a total of four different sectors of people
1. chairpersons
2. house leaders
3. cca leaders
4. councillors
its pretty obvious that we cannot handle all the suggestions by ourselves.
with a committee devoted to better the student's life, it will definitely make things much easier.
a handful of people from these various 4 sectors will be chosen to be part of the congress. in which they are to deal with all the suggestions inclusive of the implemention process.
during which, we can then probably hold either monthly or once in two months general meeting to keep in better touch with all our school leaders to not only hear for more suggestions but also learn from one another. IT ACTUALLY WORKS IN THAT SCHOOL!
but like i said, because of time shortage and the fact that we are not ready yet. we might not have the chance to fully launch it YET by the time we step down. hence we must involve quite a few sec 2s as key figures.

exco meeting:
we will definitely need at least two cause the sec4 farewell not that easy to plan in a day.
at the moment, i would like you guys to think of ways of the farewell.
but just to highlight, bbq is out as we have it annually. therefore other activites would be of a better choice.
things like those books fr the DHes, me and carren will get them.

i hope the blog is useful for you guys!

"We Want" List!

Hey guys:

Note the "We Want" list at the side?

Think of it as our To Do list for 2007. You guys have admin rights, or at least I'll be granting them to you, so feel free to add items as you like, but please discuss with us on this main board here. If you guys wanna volunteer for each project, just let me know. I'll keep a copy of the to do list with me, so I'll be able to make sure each thing is worked on. I'm hoping this help ensures equal spread of duties.

Standard Procedures!
As I mentioned in the really serious email some days back, I figured that it might be a great idea to list down the various duty stations and exactly what the procedure is for them. And then post the list onto MLG. That way junior councillors have a fixed thing to refer to, and no one complains of biased treatment. We'll have to update this as and when we and mrs yeo make changes, so we'll all be updated! Yuexi, will this help in the miscommunications part? Does anyone want to volunteer for this?

Splitting of Sec Ones into Divisions!
I don't think we need to wait for mrs yeoh to tell us to do this, right? XD
Div Heads, do you have the lists of sec ones?

New Attendance Books!
Alright, this one I can handle. Div Heads, this will be your christmas present, alright? Hoho.

New Mass Run Duties Team!
HELP! I'm really not looking forward to more rushed mornings on tuesdays and fridays and thursdays and facing more grilling again and again. I have to get a new shift of councillors for the different duties. Also, to train the Sec 2s to take over after I step down. i think I need more EXCO help on this one, would anyone like to aleviate my pain?

EXCO Meeting!
I insist! Other than the fact that I miss you guys, I'm sure we all agree there's stuff we need to iron out.

There were two more ideas that i had, but i didn't want to put them down till i ran them past you.

Initiatives Box!
Well, you know how everyone keeps saying that we should be doing this, we should be doing that? Well, let's give them a chance to tell it to us. You can't deny more brains thinking up ideas would be useful. It'll be like a suggestion box, only instead of just telling us the problem, they need to suggest ways of solving them. And it can't be anonymous, so they need to leave their names and classes. So we can then contact them, and work with them to solve the problem. This means, they've got to act with us too. So this way we'll be encouraging more Crescentians to step forward and improve their school community.

Students' Congress
This is Waiteng's idea. This is like, a once in a month Student Forum, only involving all school student leaders, such as house leaders and CCA leaders, as well as interested students. So, ideally, with a wider range of leaders from all aspects of the student community, we'll be able to get a wider range of opinions. So yeah, we'll be fostering closer relations with leaders outside the council.

What do you guys think? That's what the tagboard is for, by the way. So if you'd like to volunteer for any of the projects on the We Want list, or to suggest new Wants, or to approve/disapprove of the pending Wants, just drop a note there!

Onward and upward,
Carren

EDIT: If, after a while, no body claims the projects in the We Wants list, we'll deal them out as per normal, alright?

just a short note

hey exco(:
wassup with the pink man?
on a lighter note, isnt great to have this blog here.
its better to have all of memories stored;
next time when we step down, it would be great to read thro 'em and everything.
and reminiscing those memories we had together.
loves!

ive said it once and i shall say it again,
"thanks to each and everyone of you for being such great BRAS! The endless support and .."

you get my point.

love,
yanting

EXCO 06/07:

Hey all,

This is a new thing that we're gonna try out. I believe it'll make it easier for us to communicate. The EXCO blog will be used for

  1. Announcements
  2. Progress Reports
  3. Minutes
  4. Reflections

From now on, all event i/cs and supervisors will be required to write a reflection on the allocation and execution of duties, from start to finish. This is to faciliate the sharing of experiences and learning from past mistakes.

Brenda, as secretary, please regularly post minutes from council/EXCO meetings on this blog.

Reflections may be posted at any time, if you've any concerns with the direction/management of council.

Love,
Carren
